Milton Crotts
Conductor and Music Director
MILTON CROTTS, Music Director of the Blue Ridge Orchestra holds both Bachelor and Master degrees in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in orchestral conducting from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. In addition to his work with the Blue Ridge Orchestra, he directs the Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
Milt’s previous academic appointments includes serving as Associate Professor of Music at Davidson College and the University of Guam. From 1984 through 1999, Milt was Music Director for the Guam Symphony. During his time in Guam, he received three Governor's Arts Awards for Music and the Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2010, Milt returned to Guam as guest conductor and was honored with the title of Conductor Emeritus of the Territorial Band, the island’s official band. He has also been nominated for the National Medal for the Arts and has been listed in Who's Who Among American Teachers.
