The Blue Ridge Orchestra presented "Eleven Eleven: Remembering Armistice" to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of Armistice. This program featured excerpts from Richard Rodgers' Victory at Sea, as well as Beethoven's 5th Symphony and Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand.
The Concerto was written following World War I for pianist Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right hand in combat. The piano part was be performed by local prodigy Christopher Tavernier, who stunned Asheville audiences with his "Great Piano Classics" performance at Diana Wortham Theatre in September 2018.
