Summer Soirée

Dr. Emily Mariko Eng, Music Director
Blue Ridge Orchestra’s Summer Soirée
Sunday, June 8th, 2025, 6:15pm
Join us for a Summer Soirée on June 8th at the Souther Williams Vineyard beginning at 6:15 pm!
The Blue Ridge Orchestra invites you on a journey of the senses. Join us for our Summer Soirée and experience the splendor of synergistically selected music, wine, and culinary pairings brilliantly curated and globally inspired.
Explore intriguing destinations while ensconced among the verdant hills of Souther Williams Vineyard. During the prelude to our concert the vintner will guide us through wine pairings while delectable plates are served and uniquely stylized jazz is performed.
What better place to begin than with the Austrian varietal gruner veitliner paired with confit Sunburst trout on housemade focaccia. The concert later brings this first wine to life with select movements from Mozart’s Serenade for Winds in C minor.
Travel next to Georgia, Appalachia, France, and Uruguay. Dine on fromage blanc with tarragon, seared duck breast, and chocolate mousse alongside Souther Williams’ exquisite rkatsitel, cynthiana, and tannat wines. Well crafted vegan options are available for each dish.
The prologue then leads us to an unforgettable concert. Prepare to be surprised and delighted as Music Director Dr. Emily Mariko Eng stirringly captures the spirit of the varied regions of the evening’s featured grapes. You’ll enjoy a thrilling juxtaposition of era and style that is spritely, inspiring, and joyous.
Of her production, Dr. Eng says, "Pairing music with delicious food and wine has been such a delightful endeavor; this program places listeners among a wide array of cultures, while celebrating our sense of place right here in Appalachia. It's an honor to spotlight our fabulous musicians in these stunning chamber works, and we look forward to entertaining at this gorgeous venue!"
Summer Soirée is a fundraiser to help pay for the Blue Ridge Orchestra’s continued performances at varied venues while our concert hall home - Lipinsky Auditorium - is under its exciting renovation.
