(ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE)
Ta-Ra-Ra, “BOOM-DE-AY”− The Blue Ridge Orchestra echoes its previous program (Ta-Ra-Ra), while celebrating the spirited 26th season finale under the leadership of Music Director Dr. Emily Mariko Eng. The BRO ‘Booms’ with percussive explosions in Natalie Williams’s Sonic Boom, Chaminade’s Callirhoë Suite, Stravinsky’s “Berceuse” and “Finale” from the 1919 version of the Suite from The Firebird, and Ravel’s orchestration of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.”
“These works are just thrilling,” says Music Director Emily Eng. “Our program celebrates some of the most percussive moments in the orchestral repertoire. But don’t worry: not everything is loud and booming. Soft and sensitive passages build to the moments of triumph and grandeur. We look forward to bringing you on that journey with us!”
The BRO’s home at UNC Asheville is undergoing a multi-year scheduled renovation. While displaced from Lipinsky Hall, we are thrilled to express reverberating, joyful melodies at venues near you! Our passionate group of volunteer musicians will perform in the historically famous A.C.Reynolds High School Auditorium, east of Asheville, and the renowned Diana Wortham Theatre in downtown Asheville.

BRO Revels! 2025: A British Holiday
(ORIGINAL PRESS RELEASE)
The Blue Ridge Orchestra’s 26th annual holiday celebration fosters a joyful spirit for all.
The Blue Ridge Orchestra rings in the winter season with BRO Revels! 2025: A British Holiday—two festive
performances featuring chamber and orchestral works by British composers Handel, Walton, Coleridge-Taylor,
Holst, and more, followed by beloved holiday favorites performed by our full orchestra!
While our home at UNC Asheville's Lipinsky Hall undergoes its 2-year renovation, we're grateful to continue our
partnership with UNCA students and the surrounding community. This temporary displacement gives us an exciting
opportunity to expand our reach—bringing live orchestral music directly to audiences in Weaverville, Swannanoa,
and communities across Western North Carolina. This season of giving, please consider supporting our mission to
keep great orchestral performances accessible to all.
BRO Revels! 2025: A British Holiday is generously sponsored by Mosaic Community Lifestyle Realty.
BRO’s Post-Helene: Remembering Rebuilding, Reimagining, September 27th & 28th, 2025
The Blue Ridge Orchestra took its performances on the road for its 26th season debut under the leadership of Music Director Dr. Emily Mariko Eng. “Post-Helene: Remembering, Rebuilding, Reimagining” captured an array of emotions in two September events. We were proud to collaborate with UNCA as they honor WNC’s resilience one year after Hurricane Helene, Post-Helene “Remembering, Rebuilding, Reimagining” Symposium.
Through music, we reflected on the impact of Hurricane Helene, one year later. This program featured: the world premiere of Sinfonietta Helene by Asheville-based composer Jay Sanders; Iman Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht, which is inspired by the beauty of nature and the impact of climate change; Elgar’s “Nimrod” from Enigma Variations to honor the memories of the people and places we lost; and local composer Phillip Rhodes’s Concerto for Bluegrass, a nod to the resilience of WNC.
The BRO’s home at UNC Asheville is undergoing a multi-year scheduled renovation. While displaced from Lipinsky Hall, we are excited to bring our music to a venue near you this season!
Our passionate group of volunteer musicians performed in the charming Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church, east of Asheville, and the renowned Diana Wortham Theatre in downtown Asheville.
